The total number of technical reports filed in Canada under 2023 was the lowest since 2020. A total of 656 technical reports under NI 43-101 were submitted, including 71 amended and refiled technical reports.
The months with the highest and lowest number of technical reports filed were March and January, respectively, with 89 and 38 reports filed.
In 2023, the number of technical reports filed on SEDAR decreased compared to 2022. However, the total number of amended and refiled technical reports exceeded the previous year. This suggests that the NI 43-101 standard may present a greater degree of complexity, and that Qualified Persons may have limited familiarity with the Canadian public mineral projects reporting code.
Technical Report by Type
Of the total of 656 technical reports, 238 were for exploration properties, 204 were for Mineral Resource Estimates (MRE), and 61 were for mines in production. Notably, only 84, 25 and 46 reports, respectively, were for Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), Pre-Feasibility (PFS) and Feasibility Studies (PFS).

This is the lowest volume of technical reports for PFS and producing mines since 2017.
